Our First Homestudy Appointment!!!

Yay!! We are scheduled for our first homestudy appointment for Friday June 24th. This is really, really exciting. The homestudy will take 6 weeks (3 visits every other week). During that time, we will be filing our immigration pre-authorization papers (I-600A), getting our fingerprints done, reading over the homestudy, compiling the rest of our dossier, sending off for passports, and…refinishing our basement and remodeling a new church building. Am I a little busy? Nah…

We are already blessed by this process. The more time I have to think about it, the more excited I get! God has been keeping me busy by faithfully giving me orders for purses. This is very, very cool.

I can’t think of much else. I do know that we are using Lutheran Family Services as our homestudy agency (we didn’t have a HOLT branch in our area). They provide an fantastic service of letting us do our FBI finger prints there for $60 less than what we would pay at an immigration branch office. They also are allowing us to do most of our education classes online. We will be taking one on-campus workshop on August 29th. The other four classes: With Eyes Wide Open, The Journey of Attachment, Medical Issues, Finding the Missing Pieces; will all be taken by us before August 29th. Wow…o.k. I’m a little busy.

Thanks for ALL of your support! We are very grateful.

I just got discovered your blog. I’m a stranger to you, but discovered your blog through your business page on facebook where you are selling purses. I was excited to see you are at the same point in your process to adopt from Ethiopia that we are! Our homestudy is on July 29th. Good luck and I’ll be praying your process goes quickly and smoothly. Blessings!

Hi Steph! It’s good to ‘meet’ you. Isn’t it fun to find others who are going down a similar path? It will be fun to chat back and forth every once in a while! I’m going to check out your link right now. What agency are you guys using?

We are using Children’s Hope International. I know this is a small world thing, but do you by any chance know a Lauren H. from SD that adopted a little boy from Ethiopia? She’s a friend of a friend and just became my facebook friend and I think your name was on her profile.
